I highly recommend Scot Gentry. I live in Minnesota but had to sell my mother's house in San Diego after she passed away. Scot was very supportive and extremely professional. He helped connect me with contractors, arranged for their access into the house, and did visual inspections of their work, When it came to staging, marketing and listing the house he drew on his expertise to make recommendations that generated competitive bids. In the end we sold the house for about 20% higher than expected. Throughout the process he made himself available allaying my fears and easing my stress. I am very thankful he was my realtor.

As Doc Brown would say in the Back to The Future films, "Great Scott!" Who was Scott and was he really that great? Will we ever know the mystery behind this startling interjection? Probably not. Well in our case, in a realty sense it's more like, "Great Scot!" and yes, this particular Scot IS great! I highly recommend Scot when looking to buy or sell a home. Top notch guy! We appreciated Scot's candor and felt he genuinely cared for us and our interests. We found that the whole process of selling and buying is similar to a roller coaster ride. As with most roller coasters, there's a sense of excitement and nervousness especially when you're not sure what kinds of twists, turns, slopes and inversions to expect. Scot and his assistant Loretta helped make the ride much smoother for us. Even if at times when it seemed the ride was out of service, Scot somehow managed to get us back on the tracks. As with all roller coaster rides, the ride does come to an end, and joy and elation is typically experienced. At the end of our ride we got the home we loved. :) Thank you Scot for all that you've done for us!

We met Scot a very long time ago as his and Rex's office is close to the Kensington Starbucks. When we finally had enough of Kensington, Scot was our go-to guy for the sale of our house. But first I found a house that we fell in love with in Del Cerro on realtor.com, so he was our buyer's agent before being our seller's agent. He worked with the seller's agent very well and was very helpful on coordinating a ton of excellent vendors for major house fixes. Scot definitely made our dream-home purchase happen! Fast forward to the selling side, a few more bumps in the road but all's well that ended well ... oops, almost. A full 48 hours before escrow closed 24 hours late, we did a final walkthrough of the house we called home for 15 years ... a house three of our shih-tzus lived and died in, and a place that was remodeled with literal blood sweat and tears. Lo and behold, the buyer's agent allowed the buyer (his mother in law) to put her stuff on the mantel that we still owned (see photo -- not at all our stuff). We aren't religious people and we don't have kids, so this was a big slap in the face. Scot didn't think it was a big deal but we did. In fact, it's illegal. Such a shame that the buyers ruined the experience in the home stretch when they hadn't even purchased the house yet. It looked like they were performing an exorcism on a house that was still ours. P.S. Loretta from Ascent was phenomenal, helping us through times when Scot was out of town and providing a great experience through milestone moments like close of escrow at our new home, picking up keys/openers for the old home, and being empathetic about the mantel situation.

Ok, Scot sold me my 1st condo in 2016 and was the most patient, knowledgeable, humble, and gracious man as I peppered him with the typical million questions that any new homebuyer would ask. That said , I'm known for asking a million question and Scot never made me feel stupid or appeared irritated or annoyed ( and some of my questions were kind of stupid, looking back) . The sale went thru and Scot would call to check on me from time to time - but check this out: I moved out of the state in 2018 for a new job and 2 yrs later started looking to purchase here in NJ. I called Scot for a reco and called me the very next day with a contact! More than that, he has continued to answer my questions and take the time to listen to me even when technically he has no vested interest or obligation to do so. That, to me , demonstrates the immense character and integrity of Scot. If you're luck to be one of Scot's clients - consider yourself very lucky because he is the consummate professional. When you're a client of Scot , you're a client for life and he really cares.

I just wanted to add that we went back to Scot 6 years later, after we didn't find what we were looking for in 2012. Scot and his associates are patient, calm, and know all the ins and outs of the "game". With Scot's guidance we were able to get an amazing deal on our place. We don't feel as though we overpayed because we got credits towards our closing costs and our house was appraised for more than we paid for it. If you're looking for someone who won't be pushy, who will listen to your needs, and not try to guide you away from what you want, work with Scot and his team. I'm my opinion, they're the best out there.

Scot is awesome. We used him to purchase our first home and he was not only helpful but very attentive. He listened to what we were looking for and didn't pressure us to make a decision before we were ready. He is honest and hardworking and make this process enjoyable. Thanks for everything Scot!

Scot is kind, professional, knowledgeable and amazingly available at all times! Please read this! My wife and I sold our home in the San Francisco Bay Area last year (Feb. 2016) and were ready to begin our search to buy a new home in San Diego, not far from where our daughter and son in law live. We asked our selling agency which real estate group they might recommend to help us find our new home - they linked us up with Ascent Realty (Kensington). We had planned to live in San Francisco through the end of 2016 - so our search would be "from a distance", except for a few short visits to the SD area. Our first contact was with Scot Gentry, by phone, who proceeded to introduce himself and immediately began working with us to know what our new home preferences were. This cordial beginning began a very cooperative team effort with Scot and his assistant, Loretta. We finally met Scot a few months later, just as our 'winnowing' process had begun to pick up. Once we met him in person and began our search in earnest we knew he would be just the right representative for our tastes, and our home buying needs. Scot showed us great patience from the very beginning. He was always informative, relaxed and knowledgeable about the area or home/neighborhood we might be viewing. He accommodated to our "distance-looking" requirement, and eventually led us to many great possibilities leading up to the purchase of our home in Kensington. Because of the months we spent in detailed looks, bids and changes of heart we knew we were even better prepared to "know" when the right home/price/location arose. This indeed was the case when we found, bid on, then bought, our home in Kensington - a dream-come-true. Scot's long-time expertise in many SD neighborhoods, knowledge of historical aspects to the kinds of homes we often wished to bid on, and ultimately his insight to the rhythm and speed of negotiations once we were in escrow all came to the fore in helping us feel assured and confident that we were making the right decisions every step of the way. With Loretta's assistance our escrow process finished smoothly, and we found ourselves loving every part of this new home, and new adventure! We knew we were in an expert's care as we realized that our home buying experience matched our home-sale experience: it is possible to come to a sale/purchase agreement where *both* buyer *and* seller are happy! My wife and I cannot recommend Scot Gentry highly enough to anyone wishing to employ him in the purchase their home. We feel we can accurately add that his expertise in helping anyone to sell their home would unfold just as professionally, smoothly and successfully! With great appreciation to Scot and Loretta - Mike S

My husband and I recently worked with Scot and Ascent on the purchase of our first home. Scot was dedicated from the start to helping us find the perfect home for us, and we really valued his honesty and expertise. Scot was available 24/7 during the entire process, answering countless questions, keeping track of the myriad of documents that frankly started to blend together to us, and constantly advocating for us. We found a great house in our dream neighborhood and couldn't be happier with our purchase, all of which Scot made possible. Cannot recommend highly enough!

My wife and I were first time home buyers and Scot came highly recommended from our close friends. Scot was great at explaining everything from the basics to the complex. He was available the whole way through escrow and went above and beyond when we needed to investigate. He even went down to the City and waited in line to pull sewer drawings and plans when we couldn't determine where our connection was! Highly recommended, 5 stars aren't enough.

We have used Scot twice. Our first home took over a year to find and Scot was very patient and supportive of us. We were first time home buyers and had no clue about what was involved. Scot walked us through the process and was always there when we needed him. Luckily our second home only took 2 months to find. I would highly recommend Scot. Bonus- Scot also did a kick-butt job in selling our house (got more than what we asked!)
